Fairfax School Photos

Yes, Covid took a lot from us but guess what? It did NOT take away our children’s school photographs!

For the 2020- 2021 school year, I had the absolute pleasure of offering school portraits! These images are more of a fine art style which eliminates any distracting backgrounds or props…

Aren’t these preschoolers adorable? I strive to create images that document true personality!

Here’s how we did it…

  1. Photo sessions were broken up into 3 days which allowed me to photograph without large groups waiting for their turn.

  2. We photographed the students outdoors. Yes, all of these images are natural lighting only!

  3. While photographing, I am always masked and I use zoom lenses. I am also fully vaccinated.

  4. After our session, ordering photographs was completely contactless. No images were delivered to the school…Parents get their images shipped directly to their home.

  5. Privacy is extremely important to me so galleries are delivered in a password protected site provided directly from the school itself.

Fine art school portraits are a natural way to let your child shine. It was so much fun to create these images and give some normality to parents in these challenging times.

If you, or a school you know of would like to offer fine art school portraits feel free to reach out and we will make it happen!

The Library of Congress, located close to the Capital Building was the perfect choice…

Even Simba was perfect during our time together! Many thanks to the B Family for allowing me to document and preserve these memories…I hope they are as thrilled as I am with how they turned out.

Pizza Night

After the beautifully busy holiday season, it was nice to pick up the camera again to document the night my brother made pizza with the littles.  Just a simple pizza dough from scratch...2Z9A29342Z9A29382Z9A2958along with a little bit of extra flour...2Z9A2970Ok, ALOT of extra flour and of course a heart shaped pie made it even more delicious.2Z9A2977Any night I don't have to worry about dinner is a good night in my book.  We miss you already Uncle Joe and Aunt Liz. Come visit again soon!

Hayley | NOVA Lake Braddock Senior Photographer

We had the most perfect evening for Hayley's Senior Portrait shoot!  For someone who prefers to be behind the camera...I think she really nailed it. Hayley is a Senior (10 of 57)-2collage5-2Hayley is a Senior (22 of 57)-2collage3-2collage4-2collage1-2Hayley is a Senior (56 of 57)-2I hear Senior year is just a whirlwind and in the blink of an eye, college awaits.  Do all the things, dream all the dreams...go out into the world and show them just how amazing you really are.

The In Between Moments

Ahhhh it's the perfect Fall Sunday.  It's all planned in my mind...A leisurely breakfast to start at our favorite restaurant then a peaceful car ride out to the farm to pick our own apples and maybe some pumpkins.  We would sing to the radio and enjoy the breeze and the sunshine.  The kids would all give me great material for photographs and they wouldn't complain a bit about the camera. Ha, Yeah right!!What I got was pretty much this..."Why do we have to walk so much?"  "All of these bugs!" "I'm soooooo thirsty" "Can we just go home?" "I'm hot!"And let's not forget the fighting over seats, the hitting each other, the hurt feelings, my teenager's attitude and heaven knows what else.  No,  the day didn't really go as I envisioned it but we managed to enjoy the outdoors, some apple cider and we did take home our 15 dollar bag of apples we picked ourselves. The following photographs are the moments  in between the chaos and complaining.  I'm thinking I need to do a better job at documenting those irritating parenting times because from these you would never know how they tested our patience today...2z9a27382z9a2765fall-collage-22z9a2756fall-collage-12z9a2769fall-collage-32z9a27772z9a2781I know I'm going to miss it all one day...even the days that are hard...Even those days that require every ounce of patience and calm.  The house will be quiet, the car will be quiet and I'll wish for the yelling and the fighting back again.
